The renovation of Tribble Hall A4 created space to move, work, and learn. Before the renovation, this space was an underused, unloved basement classroom, one of just two rooms managed by WFU Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
The enrollment capacity on this 500 square foot room was decreased from 24 to 16. Mobile furniture including tablet-armed chairs, a mobile and flip-top instructor table, and a narrow, wooden bench storing floor cushions facilitate a flexible, comfortable room for teaching and learning. Multiple whiteboards maximize and facilitate writing; a high-impact teaching and learning practice. Several wall-mounted whiteboards and 16 personal-sized whiteboards are available for individual student or collaborative use. This room is adaptable enough for seminar and discussion-based classes but the new technology makes it an ideal screening room for classes that need such a space.
The renovation of Tribble Hall A4 was a collaborative effort in 2018 between Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, the Learning Spaces Committee, Teaching and Learning Collaborative, Facilities, and Information Systems. Seminar and small language, writing, and literature classes, including courses representing Mathematics and Statistics, English, and Arabic are scheduled here for Spring 2019, increasing student and faculty impact across Wake Forest.
